Promotion of Green Procurement

Green Procurement Attitude

Based on our Environmental Policy, we have created "Green Procurement Guidelines" as guidelines for the purchase of materials for the business development of environmentally friendly products. Further, in order to create environmentally friendly products, we have created a "Green Procurement Manual," and promote green procurement in cooperation with our business partners.

Energy-Saving and Resource-Saving Initiatives in Each Department

● Reduction of Energy Usage

In FY2015, we conducted energy management in accordance with production burdens as an energy-saving, energy conserving initiative at our plants. We achieved an energy-saving effect of 8,101,000 yen (FY2014: 10,852,000 yen). Our main initiatives are as described below.

  • Transition to LEDs for plant and office lighting, addition of motion sensors
  • Review of compressor control and air conditioner control
  • Efficient operation of LPG annealing furnaces, adjustment of contract demand
  • Reduction of contract demand by peak cuts, in cooperation with Hokuriku Electric Power Company
  • Attachment of cord switches to fluorescent lighting, and turning off during lunch breaks, at spaces not being used
  • Reduction of transportation by individual cars through enhancement of internal courier service
  • Promotion of using reverse sides of paper, double-sided printing, reduced printing, and transition to PDFs
  • Recommendation for secure printing at multifunction machines to prevent printing errors
  • Implementation of summer dress code, use of air conditioners at appropriate temperatures
  • Introduction of hybrid automobiles for company use
  • Reduction of exhaust gases through usage of Kanazawa Port for product shipment

Contribution to reduction of exhaust gases through usage of Kanazawa Port

80% to 90% of our products are exported. Because they are heavy items, sea cargo is mainly used for transportation. Conventionally, shipments have mainly been made from the ports of Kobe or Nagoya due to agreements with customers and convenience, and long-distance land transportation by truck was unavoidable. In order to improve this situation, we have been negotiating with trading companies regarding the use of Kanazawa Port at the time of agreement, and have been advancing the convenience and promoting usage of Kanazawa Port in cooperation with local companies, local business communities and other organizations.
As a result, regular container routes at Kanazawa Port have increased, and we have also increased our usage of Kanazawa Port.
